The Research Entitlements Consortium (REC) is a body of institutions that use or distribute investment research and share a common goal of significantly improving the current research distribution approach.
Current membership extends to fifteen investment banks and research distributors such as Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg and TheMarkets.com. All members face a common set of frustrations with the industry: lack of transparency, poor management information, and a plethora of entitlement processes and methods - all of which add to administrative overheads and limit the ability to control research consumption and distribution. This common need is at the heart of a desire to work together to define best-practice standards. REC members have already seen the beginning phases of implementation of these standards, which have since yielded benefits across the industry.
The Research Entitlement Standard (RES) is the first of our standards, a global mechanism for setting and reporting on research entitlements between vendors and brokers.
