Having a common mechanism at play between each vendor firm and broker means a significant reduces complexity in both process and technology. This simplicity reduces cost and the risk of mistakes while the whole entitlement process is accelerated. For vendors and suppliers, being able to demonstrate compliance with this industry-standard means that brokers know they can work efficiently with you and your systems.
Brokers face a number of challenges in protecting the value of their research, including inappropriate access. Increased visibility of the research process and the confidence to permission with accuracy and certainty is an important step towards overcoming this issue. The RES allows brokers to make the standard management decisions about research distribution that most other industries' supply-chain have supported for years. Similarly, buy-side firms will ultimately benefit from better targeted research, reducing the mountain of unwanted content. This benefit also allow firms to choose which content is most useful to them and to buy only that access, maximizing their budgets.
Clients and Brokers want to see value-added research and models made available through vendor channels. Without the advanced permissioning capability stipulated by this standard, that has not been possible to date. This standard removes that barrier and allows the desired content to be made available.
At a time when the trend is to reduce operating costs, administration of entitlements is unnecessarily complex. This standard alleviates the current "spaghetti" of different systems and processes and enables automation. Running a common system, in place of the myriad of current processes, leads to reduced administration and IT costs.
With this common, standard way of working comes a new efficiency that will ultimately result in faster, more accurate, and more meaningful entitlements for the buy-side. These buy-side companies that get their research faster will have a competitive advantage.
